Certified Nurse Life Care Planner (CNLCP®) Certification Board

The Certified Nurse Life Care Planner (CNLCP®) Certification Board was incorporated in 2009 as a separate entity but in collaboration with the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners (AANLCPSM).   

The CNLCP® Certification Board directs the certification program for nurse life care planners and promotes the specialty of the nurse life care planners’ professional practice and role. This oversight includes but is not limited to certification and re-certification of nurse life care planners and quality assurance of the examination.

Quality assurance includes item writing and test development of the examination content based on evidence based specialty standards for nurse life care planning. Meeting the criteria as set forth by the Certification Board allows a professional nurse to utilize the designation Certified Nurse Life Care Planner (CNLCP).

The  CNLCP® Certification Board is a voluntary organization that is comprised of certified nurse life care planners and one public member with an interest in the field.  Due to the expanded responsibilities and goals of the Board, we have increased the number of Board members.
